Are you talking rubbish?
When it comes to engaging with customers on the spread of social media platforms now at our disposal, content is king. But is it really all it’s cracked up to be? Isn’t most of it just mindless drivel?
IBM reported that in 2011 the human race was producing five billion gigabytes of information every two days. By 2012 they predicted it would be every 10 minutes. That’s the equivalent of everything ever produced by man from the beginning of recorded time right up to 2003¹.
An infographic² from Domo, an American company that connects business to online data sources, puts the current content tsunami into perspective.
According to their data, every minute of every day:
• 2460,000 pieces of content are shared on Facebook
• 204,000,000 messages are sent by email
• 277,000 tweets are sent out on Twitter
• 216,000 new photos are posted on Instagram
• 8,333 videos are shared on Vine
• 72 hours of new video is uploaded onto YouTube
That’s a lot of cyber babble to get your marketing messages out in. So your first, most critical challenge is how to make your marketing stand out and seen by your target audience!
